Dear
Customers, We at Accents & Interiors consider ourselves fortunate to
have been blessed with continued success in both our business and personal
lives. We believe in sharing our success with our local community through
charitable donations. We regularly donate to many local groups and
organizations. We are particularly proud to support: |
My
Brother's Keeper Ugly Quilt Project The Ugly Quilt Project began in
1985 when founder Flo Wheatley devised the process of making sleeping bags for
the homeless from scrap material. The idea grew and is carried on by a group of
women in Prairie City, Iowa.
Last year, the group made 2500 quilts. To
date they've made over 16,000. While the majority of quilts are distributed to
Des Moines area shelters and outreach programs, these labors of love have gone
to victims of disasters around the world, including New Orleans, Kentucky,
Africa, Mexico and Haiti.

Doug & Susan's Kids
Foundation Started by the owner's (Doug & Susan) of one of our
gift companies, Kalalou, DSKF is very involved in giving back both locally and
globally. All of the proceeds from the sale of certain items in their catalog
help children that are less fortunate globally. These funds help in providing
medical care, education, food, and shelter for children in Haiti, Colombia, and
Honduras. These charities are not run through any government agency and Kalalou
covers all administrative costs. |

Care Package |
 |
DSKF's most recent effort is aimed at helping victims
of the 7.0 earthquake that recently devastated Haiti. Kalalou has done business
in Haiti for over 20 years. Doug and Susan have developed many friends there
that they consider extended family. After much consideration, they came up with
a care package that they know will be handed directly to the people that need
it most. The care package consists of items considered necessities in helping
start up a new household. The following items will be packed in a box small
enough so each recipient can easily carry it.
The total cost of each care package is approximately
$100 USD. Once packed, the kits will be loaded on a trailer and sent to
Kalalou's custom broker's warehouse in Miami, FL. As soon as the port is
operational again in Haiti, the packages will immediately be sent by ship. Once
they arrive in Port-Au-Prince, they will be picked up by Doug and Susan's
friend Victor Boulos and taken to his factory where they will be distributed to
those in need. |
